Montgomery County brothers arrested for marijuana growing operation

PALATINE BRIDGE, N.Y. - Two brothers were arrested on Tuesday in Montgomery County following a two-week long drug investigation.

21-year-old David Doherty and 25-year-old Jonathan Doherty, of 220 West Grand Street, Palatine Bridge, were arrested after a tip from community member that the two were involved in a drug operation.

Investigators found a large-scale indoor marijuana growing operation with over 300 plants and a psilocybin mushroom growing operation in the home. They also found 32 jars of mushrooms, over a pound of dried marijuana, processed marijuana and hydrocodone pills.

Police also seized 6 firearms, one of an AK-47 type, illegal assault rifle, with a 100 round drum magazine.

David Doherty is being charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd, and Unlawful Growing of Marijuana.

Jonathan Doherty is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th, Criminal Possession of Marijuana 2nd, and Unlawful Growing of Marijuana.

Both Doherty brothers were arraigned in the Town of Palatine Court and remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $10,000 and $50,000 bail respectively.
