SCHAGHTICOKE, N.Y. (WTEN) - The driver in Friday's double-fatal crash in Schaghticoke has been charged in the crash for driving drunk and killing his son and his son's girlfriend.

51-year-old Philip Dobert was intoxicated on Friday evening when he lost control of the vehicle he was driving on Route 40 in Schaghticoke, crashing into a utility pole, resulting in the deaths his son 20-year-old Kyle Dobert and his son's girlfriend 20-year-old Alisha Schoonmaker.

On Saturday, state police concluded that alcohol and speed caused the crash.

Dobert is being charged with two counts of Aggravated Vehicular Homicide, Felony DWI, and Vehicle and Traffic law violations. He had been previously convicted of DWI, within the past 10 years.

He was released from Albany Medical Center Sunday afternoon and was remanded to Rensselaer County jail with out bail.
