Amsterdam man arrested for drugging father

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. - An Amsterdam man will be sentenced Monday morning in Montgomery County Court for allegedly feeding his elderly father prescription drugs hidden in apple sauce.

64-year-old James Wojcicki plead guilty in May to 2nd degree assault.

After physicians would not admit Wojcicki's father into St. Mary's Hospital, Wojcicki ground up prescription medicine and hid it in apple sauce, feeding it to his father in an attempt to create symptoms warranting hospital admission.

Under the terms of the plea deal, Wojcicki will serve four years in prison and three years of post-release supervision.
