BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Federal prosecutors in Vermont say they've charged a man with conspiring to bring New York prostitutes to Vermont farmworkers.
Fifty-3-year-old Alejandro Enrique Young-Hernandez, of Hyde Park, appeared in federal court in Burlington on Wednesday after being charged with conspiracy. He was released on conditions, pending a July 18 probable cause hearing.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Heather Ross says Young-Hernandez worked with 53-year-old Jose Tomas Flores-Rocha, who would transport women to the farms for $60-per-trick encounters.
Flores-Rocha, an illegal immigrant who was arrested in March, has since pleaded guilty to transporting a Mexican woman to Vermont for the purpose of prostitution. He's awaiting sentencing.
If convicted, Young-Hernandez - who prosecutors say made the arrangements on behalf of farmworkers - could get 10 years in prison.
