3 arrested on welfare fraud charges in Amsterdam

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. - The Montgomery County Department of Social Services Welfare Fraud Investigative Unit have arrested three individuals for committing welfare fraud.

38-year-old Jennifer Motyka, of Amsterdam, was arrested for receiving almost $3,000 in insurance disability payments she was not entitled to. She is charged with 2 counts of offering a false instrument for filing 1st-degree, and 1 count of welfare fraud 4th-degree.

42-year-old Norbert Santiago, of Amsterdam, was arrested for stealing food stamp benefits he was not entitled to and $1,256 of benefits belonging to another person. Santiago is charged with 1 count welfare fraud in 4th-degree.

25-year-old Dana Cassell, of Amsterdam, was arrested for failing to report a working member of her household. Cassell is charged with 1 count of welfare fraud in 5th-degree.
