Family of missing Essex couple ask public for help

ESSEX, Vt. (AP) - The family of a couple missing since Wednesday has urged the public to report any sightings of them or unusual activity to police.

Bill Currier, 49, an animal care technician at the University of Vermont, and his wife, Lorraine Currier, 55, who works at Fletcher Allen Health Care, were last seen Wednesday by co-workers. Police found their car on Friday.

Bill Currier's sister Diana Smith read a statement Sunday saying, "We are heartbroken by their disappearance and at a loss to explain or understand it."

"If you have seen Bill or Lorraine at any time since their disappearance...we beg you to come forward and contact the Essex Police Department," she said.

Smith told the couple "if you can hear this, know that we love you."
