AMSTERDAM, N.Y. - The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man and a woman from Schenectady on drug and forgery charges after being stopped for speeding on Sunday.
23-year-old Jessica Robinson, 314 Paige Street, Schenectady, was stopped by patrols for speeding, and following a license check was found to have three current revocations and three suspensions.
44-year-old Maurice Fane, of 316 VanVranken Ave, Schenectady, was the passenger in Robinson's car and found to be in possession of crack and powder cocaine, along with hydrocodone pills.
During a search of the vehicle, deputies found 6 false NYS Driver's licenses with Robinson's photo on each of them with different names, along with six fictitious business checks with the same names. It was learned that these subjects were heading to area businesses in an attempt to cash these checks using the fake ID's.
Robinson is charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation Second Degree, Speeding, and Conspiracy 5th degree. She was arraigned in the City of Amsterdam Court and remanded to the Montgomery County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.
Fane was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance Third Degree, a class B Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd degree, felonies. Fane was also found to have outstanding bench warrants in three different states. He was arraigned in the City of Amsterdam Court and remanded to the Montgomery County Jail without bail.
