Police remind residents to lock cars after man is arrested for grand larceny

AMSTERDAM, N.Y.-- Amsterdam Police reminded residents on Monday, to lock their cars as the weather warms up.

This follows the arrest of a local man accused of stealing things from a number of cars.

According to police, 22-year-old Timothy Cook went through unlocked cars Saturday night, taking items like credit cards.

He now faces grand larceny and possession of stolen property charges.

Police are also reminding residents to remove valuables from their cars to avoid being a target.
