Two arrested for drug use in front of young child

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. - Two Amsterdam residents were arrested Thursday night for alleged drug use in front of their young child.

27-year-old David Figueroa and 19-year-old Nikki Brate, both of Amsterdam, were in possession of 50 baggies of marihuana totaling 1.1 ounces, when police showed up at their apartment on Thursday after an investigation led them there. Other drug paraphernalia and cash were also seized.

Figueroa is charged with Criminal Possession of Marihuana and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Brate, who is the mother of the child, is being charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

They are both being held on $250 cash bail each.
