FLORIDA, N.Y. -- Baby food manufacturer Beech Nut celebrated the grand opening of its new factory Tuesday in the Town of Florida.
The company is in the process of moving its operation there from Canajoharie.
The site will also be the North American headquarters for Beech Nnut's parent company, Hero.
There were concerns from employees about the move, but most have retained their jobs - and there are more on the way.
"Today we have about 110 employees here, and the rest of the 350-plus will be moving over by September," Beech Nut President and CEO Jim Schneider said.
State Senator Hugh Farley (R – Niskayuna) commented, "This is a great company. They put in a quarter of a billion dollars investment here: $250 million."
