ALBANY, N.Y. -- An Albany police officer has been suspended after being arrested for domestic charges involving his girlfriend.
Officer Robert Schunk and his girlfriend, 36-year old Barbara Waters, were arrested over the weekend.
This isn't the first time he's been in trouble with the law. In April 2005, police arrested Schunk on drunk driving charges when he crashed his car into two parked cars on South Allen Street in Albany. Schunk initially fought it but later pleaded to a lesser charge.
On Saturday police arrested Schunk again, along with Waters.
He turned himself into the Saratoga County Sheriff's office after Waters filed a complaint against him. Schunk says Waters ransacked his Albany apartment.
He was arraigned and released, and is suspended from duty.
Schunk is assigned to the strategic deployment unit that aggressively patrols high crime areas in Albany.
