Suspicious House Fire in Schenectady

Schenectady, N.Y.-- Fire Chief Robert Farstad is calling a structure fire that started around 7:08 P.M. tonight suspicious.

911 callers reported flames coming out of the bathroom window of the house at 15 Moyston street in Schenectady. The occupants called the fire department as well.

Chief Farstad says it was a two alarm fire because of high wind conditions and the need to call an additional unit for rescue because one of the occupants inside was refusing to leave the premises. One occupant had to be removed from the home, according to Farstad.

The fire was extinguished and there were no injuries but the house did sustain minimal damage.

Chief Farstad says the fire is suspicious because it started on the wooden part of the window pane on the outside of the home before it spread inside through the walls.

Investigators are still on the scene.
