Does Rick Pitino have interest in coaching the Siena Saints?

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) - With Jimmy Patsos officially resigning on Friday, Siena men's basketball is looking for a new head coach.

It's a name that brings with it a lot of controversy.

Former Louisville head coach, Rick Pitino was said to have interest in the opening.

The news was confirmed by Pitino’s friend Roddy Valente. The two are also partners on Kentucky Oaks contender “Coach Rocks.”

Things got interesting this afternoon when Pitino denied the report in a text message to the Courier Journal in Louisville.

Whether he is interested or not Pitino brings with him a little baggage from his previous job.

Pitino was fired by Louisville in October 2017 after the program's connection with the current FBI investigation into college basketball.
