Woman arrested on Arson, Buster's Law charges after Castleton fire

Web staff - CASTLETON, N.Y. (NEWS10) - A woman is facing multiple charges in connection to a fire.

Tammy Green, 44, was charged with Arson in the Third Degree, two counts of Assault in the Second Degree, and four counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, also known as Buster's Law.

The call for a fully involved structure fire came in around 12:40 p.m. Thursday. The fire took place at 6 Green Ave. in Castleton.

A preliminary investigation revealed the fire was intentionally set by one of the occupants, according to New York State Police. Police believe there were three cats and one dog inside the home at the time of the fire.

The animals died as a result of the smoke and fire, NYSP said. Two firemen were also treated for injuries sustained during the blaze.

Green was arraigned in Town of Schodack Court. She was remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail without bail.
