NY State troopers visit children's hospital

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - New York State troopers are helping some very special children get into the holiday spirit.

Local troopers stopped by the Bernard and Millie Duker Children's Hospital at Albany Med and they didn't come empty-handed.

Kids got the chance to pick out a toy and even meet two search and rescue dogs.

Troop G Trooper Ryan Holohan is the nuts and bolts of the program.

"It makes you realize that maybe when you're having a bad day, you're not having a bad day. Some of these kids are really having bad days," Holohan said. "The rooms are great. This is beautiful, but they'd rather be at home with their families opening gifts Christmas morning."

The troopers also donated lunch for the doctors, nurses, and staff at the hospital.

This is the fourth year they've taken part in the event.
