Update: Victim dies after Lark Tavern stabbing

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Elijah Smith, 22, of Albany died Sunday morning as a result of his injuries, according to Albany Police.

Albany Police continue to investigate multiple stabbings that happened near Lark Tavern.

Officers were called to the corner of Lark Street and Madison Ave around 1 a.m. Thursday. Albany Police say there was an apparent fight in the street. 

Police say two men got into a verbal altercation with a group of guys inside Lark Tavern. Everyone was quickly kicked out but the fighting carried onto the sidewalk in front of Mad Lark Laundry and Dunkin Donuts. 

Four males, ages 22 and 23, sustained stab wounds and were taken to Albany Medical Center, where they are currently being treated. 

Police arrested and charged Joseph Sanchez, 25, with first-degree attempted murder. Shortly after the call, Sanchez was located by officers and taken into custody. 

Police say charges for Sanchez will eventually be upgraded. 

The investigation is ongoing.
