Justify wins Triple Crown, is Saratoga next?

ELMONT, N.Y. (NEWS10) - - After going 37 years without a triple crown, the horse racing world now has 2 in the last 4 years. Justify became the latest thoroughbred to capture the triple crown, nearly going wire to wire to win the Belmont Stakes.

Justify held off a hard charging Gronkowski to take the race. Gronkowski started the Belmont in last place. Hofburg finished third.

The big question for racing fans in the Capital Region, will Justify run in this year's Travers Stakes. City officials say they will try to convince Justify trainer Bob Baffert to bring his triple crown winner to the Travers.

That may prove difficult. Baffert's American Pharoah won the triple crown in 2015 and ran in the Travers. He lost by a nose to Keen Ice. In fact, the triple crown winner has raced at the Travers 4 times. But only once, Whirlaway in 1941, won the race. Thus giving the track the nickname, graveyard of champions.
