Girl found safe in New York after Amber Alert

MIDDLESEX, Vt. (AP) - Police say a missing child who was the subject of an early morning Amber Alert in Vermont has been found safe and her grandmother and boyfriend are facing charges of abducting her after a court ordered that she be removed from the home.

The 4-year-old girl was found early Saturday morning in Dewitt, New York, traveling in a vehicle with the couple.

The girl's grandmother, 47-year-old Dawn Hutchinson of Fayston, Vermont, and her boyfriend, 61-year-old Joel Rosenthal, have been arrested. It was not immediately known if they are being represented by lawyers.

Authorities issued the alert shortly before 1 a.m. and the girl was located less than two hours later. Police say the couple abducted her after the Department of Children and Families tried to take custody of the child.
