COLONIE, N.Y. - Colonie police have arrested a man after he attacked and robbed a mall employee in the Northway Mall parking lot, at 1440 Central Avenue, Monday morning.

Police say the suspect, 20-year-old Say' Fallah Omeja Jenkins, of Schenectady, knocked the femal employee of Super Shoes down to the ground, punched her in the head, grabbed the store's bank deposit bag she was carrying, and fled on foot east of Colonie Center. No weapon was displayed or threatened during the incident.

Another mall employee, Mike Witt, heard the female scream for help and attempted to chase down Jenkins, but lost the suspect in the rear of the Staple's Store.

A responding officer saw Jenkins fleeing the scene and chased him toward Colonie Center, where he was found hiding under a parked truck.

Jenkins was arrested without incident, and all the cash was recovered, a total of $2,800.

The victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to Memorial Hospital. She is expected to be okay.

Three Colonie-area schools went into a lock down while police found Jenkins. Colonie Central High School, Sand Creek Middle School, and Roessleville Elementary School all went into a lockout around 9:43 a.m. for about ten minutes as a precautionary while police located the suspect.

Jenkins is charged with Robbery 2nd, a felony, two counts of Assault 2nd, a felony, and Grand Larceny 4th, a felony.
