GUILDERLAND, N.Y. - A Guilderland man is in custody on Tuesday morning after leading police on a short pursuit before hitting a pedestrian and crashing into a utility pole and CDTA bus shelter on Central Avenue.
Albany police received a call around 12:45 a.m. reporting a man acting suspicious inside his parked car outside of 30 Manning Blvd. The caller said the man had been revving his car for 30 minutes and could be drunk.
When officers arrived at the scene, the driver, identified as 54-year-old William Colclough, refused to roll down his car window when asked. The officer also noticed some blood on his face.
Colclough continued to rev his car and put it in reverse, striking the parked police car and just missing the officer. Police then started pursuing him westbound onto Central Avenue.
During the chase, Colclough struck a car stopped at a red light, then crossed into the eastbound lanes, striking a utility pole and a pedestrian.
Colclough eventually came to a stop when his car his a CDTA bus shelter on the side of Central Ave. He was taken into custody at the scene.
The pedestrian who was hit was treated at the scene and taken to Albany Medical Center for evaluation.
Colclough was also taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment for facial injuries. He is charged with DWI and Assault, with additional charges expected.
