SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The Schenectady Police Department has made two separate arrests in the past 24 hours for individuals approaching school-aged girls, making a total of four attempted abductions in the city within the past week.
On Thursday afternoon, 55-year-old Albert Chiweteoke, of Schenectady is accused of approaching a 13-year-old girl while in his car in the area of Duane Avenue and Backus Street. Chiweteoke allegedly called out the girl, putting her in fear. He is being charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
In a separate and unrelated incident on Friday morning, 50-year-old Harold Taylor is accused of approaching a 15-year-old girl while in his car in the area of Norwood Avenue and Van Cortland Street. He is accused of offering her a ride and his phone number. He is also being charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Two other attempted abductions of young girls occurred in Mt. Pleasant on Monday and Tuesday.
None of the incidents appear to be related.
