Jealousy seems to be motive for Schenectady shooting

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -Schenectady police are searching for the suspect of an early morning shooting on Mumford Street.

Jealously seemed to be the motive for shooting 23-year-old Riley Ritter. Ritter is the current boyfriend of the woman who lives at 505 Mumford. Police ex-boyfriend came into the home around 7:19 a.m. Tuesday and shot Ritter.

The shooter is also the father of the two children who were home during the shooting.

The bullet hit an artery in Ritter's neck, sending him into emergency surgery at Ellis Hospital. He is currently in critical condition, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Police Commissioner Wayne Bennett said they have identified the shooter, but have yet to aprehend him.

The Schenectady Police Department is investigating the shooting of a 23-year-old man Tuesday morning in Schenectady.

This shooting has no connection with the killing of 15-year-old Eddie Stanley early Sunday morning.
