The penalty is not enough. That is the reaction Thursday from a father whose daughter was nearly kidnapped from outside Saratoga Springs High School.
The man who did it, 49-year-old John Regan, will spend the next 12 years in prison for trying to kidnap student Lindsey Ferguson.
Her parents were in court Thursday morning. Gary Ferguson read a brief victim impact statement, telling Regan even the maximum sentence of 15 years would not be enough.
A stoic Regan would not face the Ferguson's.
"When it comes to predators preying on women and society, that doesn't belong in our society...especially here in Saratoga," said Gary Ferguson, Lindsey's father.
Regan is also facing charges of attempted kidnapping and assault in his home state of Connecticut. His lawyer tells NEWS10 he will accept plea deals there next month.
His sentences will be served concurrently. That means when his 12 years in New York are up, Regan will be a free man.
