Pet Poem - 2001
This poem is dedicated to the best dog ever... "Mucci"

Save Me

As I sit here and think, There is not much to say...
My world grows smaller with each passing day.
I've done nothing wrong, to be in this place...
My heart grows weaker, and tears wet my face.

There's no one to turn to and no where to go.
I sit in my cage, please tell me it's not so.
I'm trapped in this place, but I've done nothing wrong.
We bark and we cry, but it's a silent song.

Time moves so slowly, and yet goes by too fast...
If you don't save me, my life will be past.
I live in this place, with nowhere to walk,
I make so much noise, but you don't hear my talk.

Each day is the same, I dream of hope.
We comfort each other, and just try to cope.
Yesterday there were ten, and now we are five,
I don't ask for much, except to survive.

If given the chance, I can be your best friend...
Your partner in life, 'til I reach my end.
Just look to my eyes, and you will know my fear...
For my whole body aches, please take me from here.

I just want a home, with love all around...
This is my dream, if I am ever found.
I won't ask for much, just a piece of your heart.
You will give me my life and a brand new start.

What would it be like to walk out those doors...
I'll finally be free, like the eagle that soars.
When I look to the sky and see the bright sun,
I'd feel happy and free, life would be so fun.

I'd walk on the grass, and roll all around...
It would mean so much to just smell the ground.
But the best thing of all, may not seem like that much...
It's the love that you give me, with your gentle touch.
