Pet Connection Poem - 1998

                       OUR TIME WAS SO PRECIOUS…….

                   I was brought to the shelter, for no reason at all….
                      I barked to the sky….will you hear my call.
                      I sit here so scared, I dream of tomorrow,
                    For I fear this place, it's filled with such sorrow.

                   As you walk through the door, it gave me light…..
                      My cries grow louder, will I catch your sight.
                When you looked to my face, and looked to my eyes…..
                    You covered your ears….to hide from my cries.

                    As you stared at me, you lessened my fear…..
                   You stretched out your hand, and wiped my tear.
                     You talked to me, and said I was the one….
                       We went outside….I squinted to the sun.

                    We jumped to the car, and we were on our way.
                     You smiled at me and said this was our day.
                    You took me inside and showed me around….
                        This was my home, I was finally found.

                       We sat on the floor, you held me so tight,
                     You gave me a kiss and smiled with delight.
                    You gave me your love, it brightened each day.
                        Life was a joy, you asked me to stay.

                     I made you smile…you gave me your heart.
                        I worshipped you, right from the start.
                       We did so much, our lives were like one,
                     We did all together, each day was such fun.

                        Time went so fast…the years flew by,
                       I was getting old, time to say good-bye.
               OUR TIME WAS SO PRECIOUS, your memories I will love,
                 We will be together someday, in the Heavens above !
