8-year-old Desiree is one victim of Small Smiles
COLONIE, N.Y. - A national dentist chain in Colonie, Small Smiles, is being sued by ten local families over performing unnecessary dental procedures on children who were on Medicaid for their own financial gain.
Small Smiles allegedly performed unnecessary procedures, such as root canals, fillings, and crowns, on children as young as 3 years old, with out x-rays being taken.
Small Smiles, located on Central Ave. in Colonie, has since closed and is now under new ownership and is called Access Dentistry.
Attorney Patrick Higgins is representing the ten families that are involved in this lawsuit, as well as additional families who experienced similar situations in Syracuse.
