DREW BRILL SPORTS ANCHOR/REPORTER on NEWS CENTER @ 6pm & 11pm
Drew joined NEWS CENTER in January 2011 as the sports anchor/reporter for the 6pm and 11pm newscasts. A huge sports fan Drew is happy to be covering sports on a local and national level here in Albany. He enjoys telling the human interest stories, not just the daily highlights.
Drew is not your typical sports reporter. In fact, this is actually his second career. After being in the business world for over twenty years Drew decided to follow a dream. Being a big sports fan and enjoying almost any sport he decided to pursue a job in "sports." Not knowing where that would lead Drew registered for college credit in order to do an internship at WABC in New York City in an attempt to narrow the possibilities. The desire to be a sports reporter came during his internship where he became known as the 40 year old intern. There Drew had the opportunity to interview Adam Graves, Mark Messier, Brian Leech and Mike Richter of the '94 Stanley Cup Rangers team. He also interviewed Bart Scott of the New York Jets when they signed him as a free agent. He covered opening day at the new Yankee Stadium.
Drew went through and graduated from the News 12 Academy where he covered live breaking news and feature stories. He moved to the sports department where he covered hyper local sports for News12 and MSG Varsity reporting on local college and high school sports. He also covered the 2010 Yankees playoff bid.
He has been a Tournament Researcher for NCAA March Madness on CBS Sports, Pro-Football and NCAA basketball game statistician and the Production Associate for Conference USA basketball on CBS College Sports.
Drew Graduated from Clark University where he was a nationally ranked springboard diver. Three of his college records still stand at his alma mater today.
Drew also blogs for the Huffington Post sports page.
In his spare time Drew enjoys golf, running swimming and watching his kids play sports. Drew lives with his wife Barbara and their three children.
