NEW YORK CITY -- Rick Lazio, the man who wants to replace David Paterson as governor, picked up a key endorsement Wednesday in his run for the office.
Former New York Governor George Pataki threw his support behind fellow republican Lazio
The men walked around New York City's Grand Central terminal and then spoke about the budget crisis in the state.
Pataki says Lazio's plan is the way to go.
"(I) think what Rick Lazio was saying is absolutely right," the former governor told reporters. "The way to get through this is make the tough decisions to reduce the cost of government, not to borrow against our children's future or raises taxes against families' present ability to balance their own budgets, but to make government live within its means."
Lazio lost his U.S. Senate run to Hillary Clinton back in 2000.
