Mass. YMCA bans parents from kid's basketball games

SOUTHBRIDGE, Ma. -- Parents are no longer allowed to watch their kids' basketball games at a Massachusetts YMCA.

Organizers of the "Y" in Southbridge, Worcester County, have instituted a "fan ban", saying they are fed up with unruly behavior by the parents.

The adults have yelled at referees and each other, causing numerous fights during the games.

YMCA officials say the league's goals are for kids to have fun and learn sportsmanship. Banning parents sends the message that their poor behavior is inappropriate.
