SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Property taxes are going way up in Saratoga Springs and more than a dozen city employees are set to lose their jobs.
Monday night, the city council failed to agree on changes to the 2010 budget, so the original proposal automatically becomes law in one week.
It means property taxes will go up by 7.8% and there will be seven layoffs each in the police and fire departments.
The budget also calls for parking meters to be installed downtown, a move that's expected to raise more than a $1 million a year.
