GUILDERLAND, N.Y. -- Hundreds of customers in Guilderland spent much of the day without power in after a dump truck tore down several utility poles on Norman Avenue Wednesday morning.
Police on scene say the dump truck was pulling out of a construction site around 9:00am when it caught a lower set of power lines and dragged down several utility poles.
The accident shut down the roadway for a while and reduced Route 20 eastbound to one lane.
Rescue crews asked the dump truck driver to stay in the cab until National Grid workers could de-energize the wires.
No one was seriously hurt.
The driver will be ticketed for not lowering his truck's box all the way to the stowed position.
