KINDERHOOK, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 58-year-old man killed his wife with a 12-gauge shotgun in the bedroom of their Hudson Valley home and then shot himself.
The Columbia County Sheriff's Department says the bodies of Timothy Conway and 50-year-old Sarah Witham-Conway were found Wednesday morning in their home in Kinderhook, 20 miles south of Albany.
After autopsies were performed on Thursday, the deaths were ruled murder-suicide. Authorities say Conway left a note at the home and a voice message on a relative's phone asking to be forgiven.
The couple's 16-year-old son and 20-year-old daughter weren't home when the shooting occurred. Authorities say the couple had been having marital problems and Conway was recently laid off from his job.
